Responsible and Ethical Investment Policy 2026
The Responsible and Ethical Investment Policy sits alongside the Bank’s Investment Strategy and impact framework, guiding how environmental, social and governance considerations are integrated into our investment decisions to deliver positive impact alongside a commercial return. It underpins how we deliver our missions and wider impact objectives, helping ensure the businesses and projects we support contribute to a fairer, more innovative and more sustainable Scotland.
The policy sets out the principles that guide our approach to responsible investment, the standards we expect from our investees, and the activities we exclude from investment. It also explains how responsible and ethical considerations are embedded throughout the investment lifecycle, from due diligence and investment approval through to ongoing engagement and monitoring.
As an impact investor, we seek not only to manage ESG risks, but to support positive social, economic and environmental outcomes alongside a commercial return. The policy reflects the evolving opportunities and challenges facing Scotland's economy and helps ensure our investments continue to deliver long-term impact for people, places and the planet.
